Bollywood comedy trends and sleazy business

After the success of One Two Three, comedy business in bollywood has entered a new phase; something which was evident only in Hollywood comedy films, now it is gaining momentum in India as well. Now it would be fair to say that even bollywood can make a film like American Pie, Scary Movie or a Date Movie.

‘Sex comedy’ as they call it; were only limited to morning shows in bollywood. Now even regular crowd loves it. And I must say I like the trend and would like to see it go further even beat Hollywood if you can.

Film: Splash (Romantic Comedy)
Cast: Tom hanks, Daryl Hannah, Eugene levy
Synopsis: A man falls in love with a girl and everyone is out to prove that she is a mermaid. But is she really one?

Film: Shallow Hal (Romantic Comedy)
Cast: Gwyneth Paltrow, Jack Black
Synopsis: A man falls for an enormously huge woman, because he is under a spell and sees her as a hot, sexy babe! What happens when the real deal meets his eye?

Film: Confetti (Romantic Comedy)
Cast: Martin Freeman, Jessica Stevenson, Jimmy Car
Synopsis: Join three couples as they battle it out within themselves to win the ‘Most Original Wedding Of The Year’ Award.

DHOOM DADAKKA – Doom or Boom?

Being a new director Shashi Ranjan would be under pressure to prove his potential from the very first film he managed and that is quite evident by the way film has been treated. Leave alone the plotline, screenplay also fails to make you laugh. First half is much better than the second half but you can’t buy half-ticket. Although comedies are in business these days; especially after the success of bhootnath, DHOOM DADAKKA should manage to muster a reasonable support from the audience. But quite clearly it won’t be a huge hit. Still there are some very funny moments in the film especially the portions involving Satish Kaushik and Deepshikha or the three youngsters claiming to be Anupam Kher’s nephew. Of the supporting cast, Satish Kaushik is excellent, while Deepshikha exudes tremendous confidence. Anupam Kher is, as always, first-rate. Satish Shah is equally convincing. Gulshan Grover does well. Newcomer Zac has an inconsequential role. Jackie Shroff is just okay. Razzak Khan does a fine job.

Haal-e-dil of Sanjana by Anil Devgan

Bollywood is getting a hangover of hollywood these days. many of the upcoming films are either inspired by hollywood or simply copied from there. Upcoming film haal-e-dil, is about crossroads in the destiny of two young hearts. Film stars Amita Pathak as sanjana and Rohit as Nakuul Mehta. Big Screen Entertainer producer Kumar Mangat has directed Anil Devgan to bring this project to life. Haal-e-dil is likely to be released on june 20th 2008. Music for the film is done by Vishal Bharadwaj, Anand Raj Anand, Pritam Chakraborty and Raghav Sachar.

Amit is portraying a character of a playboy who is easily seduced by any other girl but never commits for serious relation to anyone. On the other hand Sanjana is the traditional indian girl living in the 21st century; her desire is to find a perfect man for life. she hates one night stand kind of boys and unfortunetly for her amit is indeed that kind of man.

Sanjana is going to face a trouble of her lifetime, she has to decide whom she loves the most; The man whom she already love or the man in front of him who is complete stranger. That is the crossroad.

Sarkar Raj

Ramgopal verma factory will soon release the film Sarkar Raj starring Abhishek and Aishwarya rai, for first time they will feature in film together post marriage. Film is based on prevalent mafia culture in Mumbai and is inspired by Hollywood blockbuster film The Godfather. After the success of Guru, Abhi & Ash must be on cloud 9, dreaming of another success. On the other hand, Ramu would be desperate to make a mark at box office after the failure of Sholay remake. First version of the Sarkar was a big hit, ramu must be hoping to repeat that. After a rather boring first quarter of this year, I am also expecting something exciting from Bollywood, hopefully Sarkar raj will live up to the expectation. The film is set to release on June 6, 2008.

Sarkar Raj revolves around three characters Anita Rajan, CEO of Sheppard Power plant which is played on screen by aishwarya rai and is motivated to convince shankar and sarkar for setting up a power project in the rural Maharashtra. Drama begins when anita and shankar reach the rural area to mobilize the support of masses. Abhishek Bachchan is playing the role of shankar and Amitabh Bachchan is the sarkar/ subhash nagre, admired by peoples of his region.
